The Graduate Student Association Scholarship

The CCSU Foundation through Graduate Studies will accept applications for the Graduate School Association Scholarship. Competition for this Scholarship is open to all matriculated graduate students who have completed a minimum of 15 semester hours of graduate academic credit in residence at Central Connecticut State University and have earned a grade point average of 3.50 or higher. Scholarship recipients are chosen on the basis of academic excellence and exemplary involvement in University and/or community service activities.

Applicants should complete the CCSU Foundation scholarship Application Form. Along with the application, applicants must submit two letters of recommendation from people who can attest to their participation and leadership in University and /or Community service activities. Applicants must also submit a 500-1,000 - word essay entitled Personal Growth Through Education. Applications are received annually in the spring. The scholarship is not automatically renewable, but previous recipients are eligible to apply and receive the scholarship more than once.

A Selection Committee composed of the Associate V.P. Academic Affairs/Dean of Graduate Studies, faculty representative from the Graduate Studies Committee, and one-two representatives of the Graduate Student Association shall recommend recipient(s) to the University Scholarship Committee. The decision of the University Scholarship Committee is final. Scholarship recipient(s) is/are selected in the spring for the award that will be distributed the following summer or fall semester.

Timeline for the Graduate Student Association Scholarship
2008

  1. Scholarship Form available beginning of Spring Semester 2008 through April 4

  2. Scholarship Applications due to Graduate Studies Office, Barnard 102 April 9

  3. GSA/GSC Committee meets to make decision during the week of April 14-18

  4. Recommendation sent to University Scholarship Committee April 28

  5. Letter Sent to GSA Scholarship Recipient(s) no later than May 9
