Funding |
The Graduate Student Association
funds grants for Conference and Travel, and Research. The purpose of
these grants is to help subsidize the cost of conference attendance and research
done by graduate students in support of their education. Graduate
Societies may also apply for funds from the GSA.
How to Apply for a Grant
-
Obtain and fill out a Graduate Student Association Travel & Conference
Request Form by clicking on the following link:
Grant Application Form
-
Instructions for filling out and processing requests can be found on the
grant application.
-
Applications must be approved by the Graduate Student Association before
Conference Travel or the time that Research Projects begin.
-
The Graduate Student Association does not meet in the summer and,
therefore, all conference and research grant requests that will occur
between May and September 1st, MUST be submitted to the Graduate Student
Association by April 24th at 5pm.
Policies Governing Grants
-
Reimbursement for conference attendance is limited to the following items:
travel, lodging, food allowance, registration, and presentation supplies.
-
Graduate
students are allowed three grants (any combination of research/conference) per
graduate degree.
-
Conference
grants
may not exceed $1,000. Research grants may not exceed $500.
-
GSA
looks to fund those grants that benefit graduate students in their program
of study and the campus as a whole, not those requests which are personal in
nature.
Graduate Student Society Budget Requests
-
Complete the Society Budget Request Form, including all requested
information, signatures and materials as appropriate for your budget
request.
-
Submit
the Budget Request Form and all materials to the GSA Vice President of
Finance at least thirty days prior to the GSA Finance Committee Meeting.
-
You may receive
an invitation to attend a finance committee meeting for final budget
approval. The President and/or Treasurer of the society must attend the
Finance Committee Meeting for approval. Subsequently, at least one member of
each Graduate Society must attend GSA Finance Meetings. Failure to do so
will render the society budget frozen.
-
Please allow 30
days from submission of budget requests for approval.
