Ed.D (School of Education and Professional Studies)

The Doctorate (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership

Designed for mid-career pre-K through Grade 12 educators

Application Deadline for 2009 Cohort

December 1, 2008

CCSU believes that effective educational leaders are skillful in developing collaborative learning communities, know teaching and learning lie at the heart of everything they do, are agents of change who connect educational improvement to the larger community, recognize diversity as a strength, use technology to advance learning, and are committed to inquiry and the process of continuous improvement.

We seek 25 talented and experienced educators to begin studies in Summer 2007.  Four weeks of full-time study is required during the first two summers. Core courses and electives are offered during the academic year in the late afternoon and on occasional Saturdays.  The CCSU Ed.D. requires a minimum of three years and an additional fourth summer for completion of program requirements, specialization, and the dissertation.  We currently offer specializations in leadership (including courses required for 092 certification) and literacy/curriculum.  If applicants are already administration (092) or reading consultant (097) certified, up to 15 credits of previous post-master’s coursework will fulfill specialization requirements. Courses required for certification as a superintendent (093) are available as electives.
