Sixth Year Certificate Reading and Language Arts

Admission Requirements

A Master's Degree in Reading or Education with a minimum GPA of 3.00 on a 4.00 point scale.

Letters of Recommendation: Recommendations from an immediate supervisor or administrator, and an educator attesting to the student's potential as a reading educator and to the student's academic qualifications must be submitted on the Sixth-Year Degree recommendation forms provided.

Application Essay: A typed two page autobiographical essay describing the applicant's philosophy of education and its relationship to becoming an effective reading and language arts educator. Please use the cover sheet provided.

Department Interview: Applicants participate in an interview where the student's qualifications, interests, and motivation toward the successful completion of a Sixth-Year Degree Program are examined. Interview sessions are scheduled individually. Contact the Reading and Language Arts Department for further information or an appointment.
