Message from the Coordinator

It has been an exciting year for Gerontology at CCSU! As of May 2017, CCSU became the first university in Connecticut to join the Age-Friendly University (AFU) Global Network by adopting the 10 AFU principles, which reflect efforts to make institutions of higher education more age-friendly to better serve the diverse needs of our aging population. In June 2017, we were visited by Dr. Bill Thomas and his Changing Aging Tour, who encouraged us to change the way we think about aging and dementia. In October 2017, we welcomed Frank Abagnale and the AARP Fraud Watch Network to campus to learn how to protect ourselves from identity theft and scams.  This semester we launched our new Graduate Certificate in Gerontology program and are now accepting applications for 2018! I welcome you to explore our website for more details on our programs and events. Please do not hesitate to contact me or any of our gerontology faculty to learn more about gerontology at CCSU!
