How to Accept my Financial Aid

Your financial aid award notification identifies specific awards and amounts for which you are eligible for the entire academic year.  In your financial planning for each semester, make certain you do not include the entire academic year amount.  Financial aid for each semester may not be used for any other semester during the academic year.

1

If you are accepting all or only part of the financial aid awarded, complete your specific awards acceptance on line in your CCSU CENTRAL PIPELINE ACCOUNT.  It is important that you activate your Pipeline account as soon as possible because that is the way the financial aid office will periodically update you on items or issues needing your attention with regard to your financial aid.

3

Continuing students at CCSU who accepted a federal Stafford loan the previous academic year do not need to redo the MPN and interview.

4

Promissory notes for Perkins loans will be provided to you at the financial aid office.  These must be signed and returned before the funds may be posted to your Bursar’s account.

5

You must report receipt of any outside grants/scholarships.  These must be considered as part of your total financial aid package and may cause other awards to be reduced.

6

Accepted financial aid will be posted against your university billing account at the Bursar’s office and will be noted on the first billing for fall semester issued in early June.  If verification and other documentation issues have not been resolved by that time, your aid will not appear and you will be responsible for paying the entire bill.

7

Funds for accepted and posted financial aid will be disbursed the third week into the semester.  Any credit balances left in your account after all university charges have been met, will be issued to you as a refund.

Financial aid is normally awarded for the fall and spring semesters combined.  Depending on the time of application, it may be awarded for fall, spring, or summer only.  At CCSU, financial aid may not be used for the winter session.

Renewal of financial aid is not automatic  Recipients are required to renew their FAFSA each year beginning January 1 and update any required documentation.  Aid awarded each academic year is based on current data provided. Therefore a student may not necessarily expect to receive the same aid as for the prior year.
