Proposed amendments to the report of the Ad Hoc Committee on Promotion and Tenure
February 8, 2007
From: Faculty Senators:
Donna Sims, Finance
Larry Grasso, Accounting
Evaluation Process
DECS
(m.) If the chair is a member of the DEC, the candidate and the Chair should select a mutually agreeable tenured faculty member (preferably from the Department) to provide the holistic evaluation.
(Rationale): For departments where the chair is a member of the DEC, candidates will not have the benefit of the holistic evaluation that candidates will receive if the chair is not a member of the DEC.
Promotion and Tenure Committee
(p) Recommend: omit
(Rationale): Small departments will have less of a chance to have P & T Committee members familiar with their discipline, outlets and contributions if Chairs and members of DECS have to recuse themselves.
