Because the vast majority of our graduates choose to remain
in Connecticut, contributing their collective intellect and
considerable energy, CCSU continues to build on its already
strong reputation in business and education. It would be
difficult to imagine a
Connecticut student who has NOT been positively influenced
at sometime during his or her academic career by a teacher
trained here. The same is true in the business realm where
CCSU graduates are widely known and widely praised for their
management skills and technological innovation.
As you will learn from the information provided in this
report, Connecticut’s economic health and the quality of
education we
provide are inextricably allied. As an institution of higher
education, CCSU has a direct economic impact of over $554.8
million annually. Our educational and outreach
programs energize area businesses and agencies as we provide
bright, capable students to serve as interns and co-ops.
Others work with faculty members in conducting
community-and-economy-related research. The University’s
Institute for Technology & Business Development provides
state manufacturers, entrepreneurs, inventors, and a wide
range of agencies with training, advice, and a space to
grow. As the new host of the Connecticut Small Business
Development Center, the ITBD will have an even larger impact
on local and area businesses. Additionally, our Center for
Public Policy and Social Research offers cutting-edge
programs designed to help local governments, nonprofit
organizations, and communities thrive.
It is with pride that we serve as a significant resource for
Connecticut. As we add new programs and create more
opportunities for students and community members to interact
with our world-class faculty, we move ever closer to our
goal of becoming the premiere public comprehensive
university in the state.
Public service is a hallmark of this learning community, and
the myriad causes to which our students, staff and faculty
devote their time and personal resources make our state a
better place in ways that cannot be measured in mere dollars
and cents.
