Welcome to the Carol A. Ammon College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences!

The Carol A. Ammon College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences offers programs leading to a Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Science (BS) or Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree. These programs are designed to provide:

  • a broad liberal education for rising to the challenges of "complexity, diversity, and change" (Association of American Colleges and Universities)

  • subject-specific foundations for graduate work and for careers (including teaching); and

  • intellectual and practical skills necessary for continued study in various academic fields (including law and medicine) and for professional success.

The programs in the Ammon College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences include the fine arts, the humanities, and the behavioral and social sciences. Some programs are designated "certifiable for teaching." These programs have additional requirements which are listed under the School of Education & Professional Studies.

When planning for majors and minors, students must consult with department chairs or program directors. Once students declare a major, they will be assigned a faculty advisor within their major discipline. Students can also receive advising support from the Arts & Sciences Advising Place (ASAP).
