Did you know ?

  • Scholarships are available for all programs

  • Most programs are open to freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students

  • Financial aid applies in most cases and can even cover the cost of your travel

  • Most programs offer coursework that satisfies the International requirement

  • You do not have to speak a foreign language to attend most programs

  • The majority of students who participate in courses abroad have never traveled outside the U.S.

  • You earn CCSU credit and get a letter grade

  • CCSU faculty travel with you on these programs

What should you DO to prepare ?

  • Make sure your passport has not expired, or stop by the Center for International Education to learn about acquiring one

  • Stop by the Center for International Education or visit our website to find out what courses are being offered, where and when

  • Talk to your adviser to find out what courses you need to take

  • Meet with the faculty leading the course abroad program to learn more about what you will do and see when you’re abroad

  • Apply early for scholarships offered through the Center for International Education

  • Contact other organizations you are affiliated with (i.e., Student Government Association, employer, civic or religious organizations) to find out if they can provide partial sponsorship

Why should you participate ?

  • Overseas experience that complements your coursework will enhance your resume

  • You may realize that you want to pursue a career with a multinational or foreign-based firm

  • You might discover you have the ability to learn a foreign language quicker by immersing yourself in the country’s culture  

  • The opportunity to meet new people and experience different ways of life
