Henkel Corporation donates manufacturing equipment to benefit CCSU’s engineering technology program

Henkel Corporation in Rocky Hill has donated Loctite® dispensing and curing equipment to Central Connecticut State University. The equipment, valued at $8,000, will be used in undergraduate and graduate engineering technology courses offered by CCSU’s School of Technology.

Henkel Corporation’s engineering staff used the equipment to develop and test adhesives and sealants for a variety of industrial applications. The equipment presented to CCSU includes dispensing systems, ultraviolet curing flood and wand systems, hot melt adhesive guns, and a fume filtration system.

“Our students will be able to use this equipment to conduct laboratory experiments in their studies of materials analysis, manufacturing with plastics and composites, and design for manufacture,” said Dr. Z.B. Kremens, Dean of CCSU’s School of Technology.  “Hands-on use of such state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment is an excellent example of our educational model of well balanced theory and real world applications, whether to find employment or pursue higher educational opportunities.”

John Cocco, Vice President, Engineering and Equipment at Henkel Corporation, presented the equipment to Lennard F. Lema, Associate Professor of Engineering Technology, and Dean Kremens during the Fall 2004 meeting of the Manufacturing Industrial Advisory Board, of which Henkel Corporation is a member.

Citing his company’s motto, “Henkel – A Brand like a Friend,” Mr. Cocco said: “With brands and advanced technologies, Henkel makes people’s lives easier, better, and more beautiful. In the business sector, Henkel Technologies is one of the leading suppliers of adhesives, sealants and surface treatments for industrial customers.
