Internships

Students are encouraged to consider work experiences which are related to their academic and career pursuits. Participation in a paid or unpaid Internship is a good way to begin accumulating career-related experiences.
Anyone interested in Internships should first ORIENT YOURSELF!  You will then receive information on how to register with the office through our Central Connections eRecruiting database system.

Political Science Internship Opportunities
Once again it's time to consider whether a government-related internship should be in your future. These opportunities are especially useful for any student aspiring to a career in law, public service, lobbying or advocacy, or with a non-governmental or non-profit organization.
Students with Business majors are also needed for managing governmental and non-governmental organizations.

  • Any major may apply.
  • We offer as few as 6 credits, or as many as 16, depending on your hours of work, placement, and other factors.
  • Internships can be as local as New Britain or Hartford, or as distant as Washington, D.C.
  • Internships can be developed in cooperation with other departments, such as Journalism, Criminal Justice, Communications or Business.
  • Most interns report that their experiences were the most important and most meaningful of all their coursework at CCSU.
  • Among the benefits of an internship are: Job opportunities, networking for personal and professional contacts, skill building, and resume development.

These are some of the local organizations and agencies where our students have been placed:

  • Connecticut General Assembly
  • Sullivan and LeShane (Connecticut's leading lobbying group)
  • Gallo Associates (Connecticut's leading liberal lobbying group)
  • Connecticut Attorney General's Office
  • The Governor's Office
  • The Office of Policy and Management
  • Democratic and Republican political campaigns

Through The Washington Center:

  • The Department of Justice
  • The Environmental Protection Agency
  • United States Congress
  • Fox News
  • The U.S. Marshalls Service
  • International Health Organizations
  • Interpol
