Connect to Career Services
The Hiring Process
Required Forms and Information

Connect to Career Services

In order to list available on-campus positions, departmental representatives must enter them into the Career Services Central Connections database system.  Please designate one person in your office or department to handle the posting of available positions.  Contact Kimberley Dumouchel to request a link to Central Connections, then follow the invitation to link to our system to activate your account and proceed to enter your on-campus student position.  Please complete all requested information regarding your available position, and be specific as to the method of application you prefer.  Students looking for work will then be able to find and view your posting on-line within their own Central Connections accounts.

The Hiring Process

When you identify the student you want to hire, you must download and print all of the required forms and information provided below in order to process the student employment and payroll account.  The student must be provided with all of the information to read before completing and signing the related forms.

  • Students who receive a Federal Work Study award must first visit the Financial Aid Office in Memorial Hall, Room 103, and ask for Keri Lupachino to obtain their "Work Study Program Award Certification" (green form).   The award certification will be reviewed by the hiring department to determine the number of hours a student is eligible to work.

  • Students who are being paid through a grant must complete their forms, then visit Kathy Knopf in the Grants Office - Marcus White 311, before bringing the completed forms to Career Services.

  • International Students who want to work on campus must first visit the Center for International Education (CIE) for determination of employment eligibility, and for the required forms for part-time work authorization.

The student and the hiring department must complete, sign and return all of the following forms to Career Services, Willard 100, before the student will be allowed to work on campus:

  • Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification (Student completes Section 1 and Career Services completes Section 2.  Career Services must verify the authenticity of acceptable documents provided by the student.  A list of acceptable documents is provided on the form.)
  • State of Connecticut State Code of Ethics Acknowledgement of Receipt and State of Connecticut Violence in the Workplace Prevention Policy Acknowledgement of Receipt (all on one form)
  • Direct Deposit and ACH Payment Enrollment Form
  • Form W-4 (Federal)
  • Form CT-W4
  • Central Connecticut State University Student Help Program Certification Form (the student completes the top portion and the on-campus supervisor completes the “Supervisor’s Certification”)
  • New Employee Personal Data Form
  • Student Worker Pay Increase Justification Form (the supervisor completes this form)  Student worker pay rates and job classifications are included here.

*Please note:  The sooner all of the above paperwork is submitted to Career Services, the sooner the student will be entered into the payroll database.

In addition to the above forms, the student must receive the Information Package from the hiring campus department that must be read thoroughly by the student.  This packet includes:

  • Letter from the Governor to “Potential State of Connecticut Employee”
  • “Guide to the Code of Ethics for Public Officials and State Employees”
  • Connecticut State University System Ethics Statement
  • State of Connecticut “Violence in the Workplace Prevention Policy”
  • “Student Workers, Co-op Students, Graduate Interns, Graduate Assistants, University Assistants” Section 4.1 Employment of Student Workers (BR#98-62)”
  • Current “Student and UA Pay Period Schedule”
  • Time Processing System (TPS) information on how to record time worked on-campus in order to be paid

Students who experience an on-campus employment time lapse of 3 months or longer (not including summers or breaks) and are returning to on-campus employment must complete a new Central Connecticut State University Student Help Program Certification Form.

Students who change working location to another department
must complete a new Central Connecticut State University Student Help Program Certification Form.
