CCSU Co-op
Program Celebrates 30 Years of Service
“Cooperative Education: 30
Years….Helping Students
Achieve Career Goals;
Serving Campus and Community” was the theme of Central Connecticut State
University’s three day celebration held October 1-3, 2003.
Festivities began with a kick-off birthday cake and commemorative pens
distributed to members of the campus community.
On
October 2nd, 160 attendees --- faculty, employers and former Co-op students --- shared
a luncheon to recognize all those who have contributed to the long-time success
of Central’s program. Speakers included Giles Packer, founder the CCSU
Cooperative Education Program;

Brian Mattiello, Undersecretary of the Office of
Policy and Management for the State of Connecticut, himself a former Co-op
student,

and James Jost, CCSU Vice-President of
Student Affairs.

Barbara Gregory, CEIA (Cooperative Education and
Internship Association) Vice President of
Professional Development,
and
Kathy Taylor, President of NEACEFE (the New England Association for Cooperative
Education and Field Experience) each presented Certificates of Achievement to
Patricia Deloy, Director of Career Services & Cooperative Education.

The culminating activity was the planting and
dedication of a tree and plaque commemorating the long history and future
success of the program.
