Larry Grasso is an associate professor of Accounting. He joined the School of Business at CCSU in August 2003. Larry earned a BS in Accounting from Utica College of Syracuse University and began his career in public accounting. He remained in public accounting for seven years holding a CPA certificate in the State of Connecticut. Larry also earned an MBA in Management from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute while working in public accounting. Prior to embarking on his academic career, Larry earned a DBA in Accounting with a minor in Information Systems from Boston University. Before joining the faculty at CCSU, Larry taught at the School of Accounting and Information Management at Arizona State University and the Lally School of Management at Rensselaer at Hartford.

Larry's primary research interests are in the areas of performance measurement, performance evaluation and incentives. He is particularly interested in the development and use of financial and non-financial measures to support lean business practices. Larry has authored or co-authored ten cases and articles appearing in peer reviewed academic journals, including The Accounting Review, the Journal of Cost Management, and the Journal of the American Taxation Association. He has made several conference presentations internationally. He has also served as a consultant for firms in the Aerospace and metal finishing industries.

Larry participated in an extensive field study of The Wiremold Company, exploring Wiremold's transition to Lean business practices over a ten year period. Larry wrote one chapter, co-wrote another chapter, and contributed financial analysis and tables to a third chapter in Better Thinking, Better Results: Using the Power of Lean as a Total Business Solution, the book reporting the results of the study. Larry is also currently developing two teaching cases with teaching notes related to the Wiremold study. He is also a member of the CCSU Institute of Technology and Business Development (ITBD) team conducting a Manufacturing Technology Center Best Practices and Feasibility Study and is providing input and advice for the ITBD team conducting the Progressive Manufacturing Pilot Program Evaluation Study. Both of these studies are part of the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) and the Connecticut Economic Resource Center’s (CERC) Progressive Manufacturing Initiative partially funded by the EDA.

When he is not engaged in academic pursuits, Larry enjoys watching and participating in sports (especially baseball and volleyball), jogging, reading mysteries, and traveling with his wife and daughter. He also serves on the finance committee for the Norwich Diocese's Haitian Ministries.
