What is Compustat/Research Insight?
This is a quarterly financial statements information and information analysis
database and platform. Within its standard reports, one can easily compare a firm
and its industry. There is considerable graphics capability to present findings.
How does this differ with Bloomberg?
There are several important differences. You don't need an account or to be in Vance
205 to access Compustat/Reseach Insight. It can be accessed on any CCSU terminal.
Second, all the output is downloadable, so you can e-mail output or copy it to a
portable data device. It has many standard reports built in the software or you can
build your own reports, using the step-by-step instruction screens. The data is updated
quarterly and does NOT contain market data, such as prices for the last trade.
What do I need to do to access Compustat/Research Insight?
You need to be on a CCSU pc. In the programs menu, you need to select Compustate by
double clicking on the Research Insight icon in the sub-menu. Beyond that, you should
check with instructions provided by your instructor.
