ATHLETIC TRAINING EDUCATION PROGRAM COSTS

In addition to customary university fees, students majoring in athletic training are responsible for supplementary costs related to the Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP). This may include the cost of certifications, transportation to assigned clinical field experience sites and/or observations, electronic software tracking fees, liability insurance, as well as the purchase of professional attire.

Tuition

Full -Time Students tuition varies based on In- State Tuition vs. Out of State Tuition.  On-campus housing and meal plans vary in cost depending on your selection and needs.

Health Insurance

Voluntary Sickness plan for full time and Accident/Sickness plan for  part time  students is available with enrollment via Aetna website www.aetnastudenthealth.com.  Cost for current ratesUNIVERSITY SICKNESS INSURANCE

 

Physical Examination and Immunizations:

All full time students are required to submit a completed Connecticut State University Student Health Services Form prior to matriculating.  For most students, proof of adequate immunization against measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) and varicella (chicken pox) along with completion of the Tuberculosis (TB) Risk Assessment.

ATEP Vaccinations Requirements

Influenza Vaccination is strongly recommended annually for students involved pre-clinical field experience, professional program clinical field experience, and is mandatory for surgical observations during EXS 316, EXS 319 and EXS 445.

Cost:  Approximately $25.00 through local pharmacy or free with appropriate medical insurance.

 

PPD Vaccination is required annually for students involved in both the pre-acceptance clinical field experience and professional program clinical field experience.

Cost: $ 10.00 at CCSU Health Service charged to your Blue Chip Account

 

Student Liability Insurance

Covered by CCSU for students enrolled in ATEP

Cost: $ 0.00

 

Personal Student Liability Insurance: Required for EXS 445

EXS 445 requires the student to purchase personal liability insurance.

Cost: $35.00 per year (Rates vary base on insurance company)

 

Taskstream Subscription

TASKSTREAM is a secure on-line software package that tracks a variety of your ATEP requirements. Students enrolled in the ATEP program are required to purchase a subscription to establish an active account.

            Cost: $ 25.00 per semester

                      $ 42.00 per year

 

CPR Professional Rescuer

Current CPR certification required for students involved in both the pre-acceptance clinical experience and professional program clinical experience.  CPR for Professional Rescuer Course is provided at no cost annually in January through CCSU Athletic Training Department. 

Cost:  $ 19.00 CPR Card (2-year certification)

 

EMT Certification Course:

Current EMT certification is a requirement for acceptance into the professional program.  The EMT course is offered on-campus as BMS 380: EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN and is structured within the ATEP curriculum, therefore registration fee is included through your semester tuition.  Students may elect to take the course off-campus, with the understanding that they are responsible for the course registration fee.             Cost:    $ 0.00 On- Campus Course (Included in Semester Tuition)

                        $ 350.00.00 - $500.00 Off –Campus Estimate (Varies based on providers)

 

Additional EMT Course Fees

Personal Equipment (mandatory): Stethoscope, B/P Cuff, Penlight, Exam Gloves & Airway Barrier Devices

Cost:  $ 90.00 (Estimated based on recommended supplies.  Cost can be higher based on brand name of selected diagnostic sets.)

 

National Registry EMT Certification Exam

Upon successful completion of the EMT course students must register and pass the National Registry EMT Certification Examination

 Cost: $125.00 - $150.00

 

EMT Refresher Course

Initial EMT Certification is a 2-year certification; therefore it may be necessary for you to take an EMT refresher course in order to maintain EMT certification through graduation from the ATEP program. Cost: $250.00 - $350.00 (varies based on providers)

 

Uniforms

Khaki Pants and/or Khaki Shorts are to be purchased by the student as required in the dress code policy.  Polo staff shirts are provided free of charge once accepted into the professional program. Lab shorts and t-shirts are required for EXS 315, EXS 316, and EXS 319 and are provided free of charge.

Transportation

Athletic training students are required and scheduled for various off-campus observations and clinical fieldwork.  The athletic training student is responsible for transportation to all observations and clinical sites. The cost is for transportation is the responsibility of the student.

Professional Membership

The National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) annual fee includes membership to District I -Eastern Athletic Trainers Association (EATA), and the Connecticut Athletic Trainers Association (CATA). Student membership to professional organizations such as the NATA and CATA is strongly recommended and encouraged.

BOC Certification Exam

ATEP students are eligible to be candidates for BOC CERTIFICATION in their final semester.
