Political Action

To further its mission of advancing academic freedom and shared governance, CSU-AAUP works with state officials to promote effective higher education legislation, the profession, and the values of a CSU education.

We continue to work to educate the Legislature on our legislative priorities such as:

Budgetary issues

Ethics

Academic freedom

Faculty representation on governing boards

Affirmative action

Collective bargaining

Retirement

Faculty workload

Tenure

Part-time and non-tenure track faculty

Student aid

“You can do the work of two people, but you can't be two people. Instead, you have to inspire the next guy down the line and get him to inspire his people.”

                                            - Lee Iacocca

When issues of importance to AAUP members come before the Legislature, we will be sending action alerts to all members. Using the Legislative Action Center, sending an email to your legislators will only take a few minutes. You will be given the option of sending a sample letter, written by the AAUP staff, or composing your own letter. After inputting your name and address, your letter will be e-mailed to the appropriate legislators.

While our collective voice is strong, it is imperative that all the members individually take action if we hope to succeed.
