Malinowski
Assistant
Director of Member Services
After working in the financial field as a researcher for
over a decade, Michelle was hired as Assistant to the Director of Member
Services in 1993 to provide secretarial support for the office while completing
her Master’s Degree in Modern European History. As the AAUP membership grew, the
position was modified from part-time to full-time and Michelle’s
responsibilities were expanded.
As Assistant Director of Member Services, Michelle answers and directs member
questions; assists the Director of Member Services with office management, and
assists the CCSU-AAUP Executive Committee and the CSU-AAUP Council by scheduling
meetings and events, maintaining and distributing meeting minutes, and
disseminating mailings. Michelle also manages the faculty load report at CCSU,
the Step 3 Grievance Arbitration Log, the CBA Stipulated Agreements Log and the
CSU part-time faculty databases.
Michelle served as the staff liaison to the CSU-AAUP Committee on Part-time
Faculty and is knowledgeable about the issues facing contingent and part-time
faculty at CSU and nationwide. At CCSU, she works closely with the CCSU-AAUP
Part-time Advisory Committee, assisting in planning and executing activities,
and providing support to the Chair.
Continuing her professional growth in the field of higher education, Michelle
has attended many National AAUP conferences and meetings, as well as the
biennial international Conference on Contingent Academic Labor (COCAL).
Michelle was politically active in state and local affairs for over twenty
years. She is a CCSU alumni with a B.A. in History and Political Science and is
currently working on her second Master’s Degree in Public History.
