Take Action

The legislative action center is a useful tool for easily contacting your legislators. Log on to the center at http://www.congressweb.com/cweb4/index.cfm?orgcode=BGAUP. Fill in your name and address on the form. You will have the option of using a sample letter written by AAUP staff or composing your own letter. After revising your letter, hit send and they will be e-mailed to the appropriate legislators.

Legislative Action Alerts

CSU-AAUP will notify the membership when action is necessary through the use of a legislative action alert. The alerts are e-mailed to all members and it states the issue and what action is needed.

Signing up to Receive Alerts Directly from the General Assembly

If there is a bill you are particularly interested in, you can sign up to receive notification of any action taken on the bill directly from the General Assembly. To sign up, visit www.cga.ct.gov. In the header for the webpage, click on "Bill Tracking". Register by typing in your name, e-mail address, and password. An e-mail will be sent to your e-mail account; please click on the link in the e-mail to confirm your registration. Once you have confirmed your registration, you can search for bills to track by clicking on "search" in the webpage header. You can search for bills by Introducer, Committee, Subject, Title, or within a number range. For example, if you are interested in bills regarding faculty, you may visit the subject index, type in faculty, and it will list all the bills regarding faculty. To view the language of the bill and track it, click on the bill number and when it opens, choose "add to my bills". The e-mail system will notify you when the Committee has scheduled a public hearing for the bill, amendments that were filed, and what action the Committee takes on the bill.
