Martin Levin

Secretary

Marty has served as the Secretary of the Executive Committee of CSU-AAUP for over ten years. He has been a Professor of Biology at Eastern for over 25 years, and has been Chair of his department and served on the University Senate. Marty has been a member of the ECSU-AAUP for twenty-seven years. From 1992 to 1994, he served as Chapter Secretary and from 1994 to 1998 he served as Chapter President. Since 1991, Marty has, on several occasions, represented Eastern on the CSU Step 4 Grievance Committee and the CSU Academic Freedom Committee. He was a member of the CSU-AAUP collective bargaining team several times as well as the co-author of Table Talk, a newsletter regarding contract negotiations.

In the spring of 1999, while on sabbatical, Marty did a study for the National AAUP Office on the working conditions of part-time faculty in several universities and colleges in the greater Boston area. He has also served as a member of the National AAUP Council.

By serving on various committees, Marty has learned a great deal about the issues the union faces and looks forward to continuing to work toward favorable solutions.
