Internships and
volunteer opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students are
available. Work-study students are encouraged to apply.
1) Graduate Assistant:
Hours:
20 hours a week. To be arranged with
Director. Flexibility required.
Responsibilities:
-
Supervise student interns, volunteers,
work study students.
-
Organize Women’s Center events.
-
Oversee newsletter, including editing,
layout.
-
Market Women’s Center events,
including development of flyers.
-
Represent Women’s Center at campus and
community meetings as needed.
-
Assist in the development of various
workshops and training.
-
Recruit, organize and assist in the
training of peer educators/peer counselors.
-
Provide crisis counseling, support,
advocacy and resource/ referral information.
-
Perform related duties as required.

Newsletter Editor:
-
Responsible for the layout and design of
the Women’s Center newsletter.

Research/write articles for the
newsletter.

Write Press releases
-
Responsible for overall writing and
editing of Women’s Center Newsletter.
3)
Coordinator of Violence Against Women
Programs Assistant
Coordinators of Violence Against Women’s Programs:
-
Assist in organizing and
coordinating all aspects of Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence Awareness
month.
-
Coordinate/Schedule all campus violence against women
training for student groups
-
Maintain programs/training statistics.
-
Assist in the presentation of violence
against women workshops.
4)
Student Programmer:
-
Assist with the planning of Fall Open
House.
-
Assist with the planning of educational
programs.
-
Plan and coordinate program logistics such as food, location and media
equipment.
-
Research potential speakers and program
ideas.
-
Organize “Telling Her Story” Women’s
Celebrate Life Day Conference events.
5)
Clerical Assistant/Library Assistant:
-
Primary person responsible for the
maintenance of the library.
-
Order books, magazines, movies and
journals
-
Send out overdue library notices.
-
Maintain resources/referral material
-
Clip articles/advertisements pertaining
to WC.
-
Assist in the general operations of the
Women’s Center.
-
Maintain records of financial
transactions.
-
Assist with the typing of various
business forms.
-
Order office supplies and maintain
inventory supplies.
6)
Women’s History Programmers:
-
Assist with the planning of educational
and social programs.
-
Plan and coordinate program
logistics such as food, location and media equipment.
-
Research potential speakers and program
ideas.
-
Organize International Women’s
Day, Women’s History Month including Black History and Latin History Month
programs.
7)
Take Your Daughters and Son’s To Work Day/Gay, Lesbian Awareness
Month Coordinator:
-
Assist with the planning of
educational and social programs for Breast Cancer Awareness.
-
Assist with the planning of
educational and social programs for Gay Lesbian Awareness Month.
-
Research potential speakers and program
ideas.
-
Plan and coordinate program
logistics such as food, location and media equipment.
8)
Computer Specialist/ Graphic Designer:
-
Develop Women’s Center web page.
-
Develop Women’s Center listserv.
-
Update Women’s Center hardware and
software.
-
Troubleshoot, maintain and upgrade
Women’s Center computers.
-
Create posters for all Women’s Center
Programs.
-
Market Women’s Center events.
9)
Peer Educator:
-
Attend violence against women training.
-
Present workshops for classes, residence
halls and athletic teams.
-
Research/develop new workshops.
-
No experience required. Will train for all positions. Both men and women are
encouraged to apply.
-
The Ruthe Boyea Women’s Center is located in the Student Center Room 215.
