CCSU President Jack Miller announces the U.S. Small Business Administration Small Business Center Development Award to CCSU on November 3, 2006.

Small Business Development Center (SBDC's) consist of an effective national business education network of 63 lead centers with nearly 950 delivery points.

SBDC's Provide:

• A wide array of technical assistance to strengthen performance and sustainability to business owners and entrepreneurs.

SBDC's Foster:

• Local and regional economic development through job creation and retention. As the result of one-on-one long-term counseling, training and specialized services.

SBDC's Provide Services Such as:

• Development of business plans, manufacturing assistance, financial packages, procuring contracts and international trade assistance.

SBDC's Provide Specialized Services To:

• Minority women, veterans, people with disabilities, firms and individual in low and moderate income urban/rural areas.

The CCSU SBDC model provides a "virtual office model" across the state hosted at CCSU-ITBD in New Britain and on the four campuses of the CT State University System including ECSU, SCSU, WCSU, as well as the CT Department of Economic and Community Development office of small business. The SBDC Offices at each campus are linked with the School of Business or Management on the campus to give students and faculty the opportunity to engage in the business community.
