ITBD Gains New Staff |

Jennifer Pelletier
joined Central Connecticut State University as
the Information Technology Support
Specialist/Assistant Conference Center Manager
on February 1, 2008. Her responsibilities
consist of administering the ITBD lab and
wireless network as well as assisting
instructors and ITBD staff with hardware and
software troubleshooting, maintaining and
developing the ITBD web-site and upgrading
systems. Jennifer comes highly recommended
from the Connecticut Small Business Development
Center (SBDC) where she was the IT and B2B
Specialist. Her role in the SBDC program was to maintain
the Connecticut SBDC Information Technology
System (ITS) with a focus on E-Business concepts
and training. She coordinated the SBDC ITS
with the campuses of the CSU system as well as
support for the staff, remote assistance,
web-site manipulation for the SBDC and
consultation on electronic business or
e-commerce. |
While she pursued her University degree she
worked at Hallmark Cards, Inc. in Enfield, CT
where she gained 10 years experience in business
support services and as a department trainer. Jennifer
is also a Connecticut native. Her strong academic
background in
Computer Electronics Technology and Management
Information Systems as an alumnus of CCSU’s
School of Technology and her practical
experience with Hallmark Cards, Inc. coupled with her
background at ITBD as a Computer Administrator
will be most relevant as the ITS
Specialist/Assistant Conference Center Manager for the
ITBD to
flourish. Jennifer is Dell Certified in
Desktops, Workstations, Notebooks, Servers and
Storage Devices.
Jennifer Pelletier was employed by Central
Connecticut State University as a Technical
Writer in the Bursar’s Office in the Summer of
2006 and in September 2006 joined the Central
Connecticut State University Institute of
Technology and Business Development as a
part-time University Assistant. Her job
responsibilities as a University Assistant at
ITBD included handling Information Technology
related issues and Computer Administration for
the entire staff. Ms. Pelletier was also
responsible for the ITBD lab domain and network
domain. She supported the ITS requirements for
the CT Procurement Technical Assistance Center
office at ITBD. Jennifer aided with database
management, manipulation, system updates,
customization of the CCSU/ITBD web-site editing
and troubleshooting client or network issues.
Jennifer received training from CCSU in using
BARTPE software to image new computers. She has
also delivered training sessions for ITBD staff
in various topics such as Remote Access
Training. Jennifer actively participated in the
successful transition of the SBDC program that
moved from UCONN to CCSU/ITBD. |

Cathy Blair Sylvester |
Youth Coordinator (University Assistant) |

|
Cathy joined CCSU/ITBD in November 2007 as a
University Assistant, Youth Coordinator. Her
duties include assisting Administrator with
managing summer and year-round youth
programs, such as the FHITEC (Financial,
Health, Information Technology, and
Engineering Careers) Program, Internship
Program, Teacher Enhancement Program and
other related programs. Cathy is building
relationships with various Boards of
Education, teachers, and instructors
statewide that can assist in recruiting and
training youth and providing funding. In
January 2008, she authored and submitted a
Grant Proposal for an Urban/Suburban Youth
Leadership Career Development Pilot Program
thru The Richard Donchian Foundation. If
funded, the program would recruit youth from
New Britain, Berlin, Plainville, Newington,
and Bristol.
Previously, Mrs. Sylvester was employed by
the Berlin Parks & Recreation Department.
She created a youth fitness program, and
coordinated youth basketball programs in
Berlin. She also was employed by the Berlin
Board of Education, as an elementary school
aide, an aide in the NET Program at Berlin
High School, and a Coach at the Lady Redcoat
Basketball Camp.
Mrs. Sylvester also was previously employed
by Residential Management Services, Inc. in
Berlin. She was the Group Home Manager for
the Bess McIntosh Group Home in Berlin.
Cathy was born and raised in Berlin. She is
a 1981 graduate of Berlin High School, and a
1985 graduate of The University of
Connecticut. She holds a Bachelor of Science
degree in Psychology. Cathyand her husband
Rob (also a Berlin native), currently live
in Berlin raising their three boys.
