History:
The Institute for Municipal and Regional Policy (IMRP)
became the successor organization to the Connecticut Institute for
Municipal Studies (CIMS) in 2002 when leaders in the legislature and
executive branch called upon Central Connecticut State University to build
upon CIMS’s mission in an academic setting. Dr. Richard L. Judd, President
of CCSU, appointed an advisory board of leaders of government, education,
labor and business, and charged the Institute with providing long-range
planning and policy development on a regional scale.
The IMRP is housed in a designated Connecticut Higher
Education Center of Excellence – the Center for Public Policy and Social
Research at CCSU. They are part of the Office of External Affairs.
