Congratulations on your graduation from Central Connecticut State University, and welcome to the family of over 65,000 CCSU alumni. The Commencement Exercises will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2008, 10:30 a.m., at the XL Center, formerly known as the Hartford Civic Center. Governor M. Jodi Rell will deliver the Commencement Address. I invite you to participate in a truly memorable ceremony. This guide contains information regarding participation in the ceremony. Please take time to review the information now. Please pay immediate attention to the Academic Regalia Order form, and the ordering deadline, to ensure that you will have regalia for the ceremony, and to avoid late charges. The Regalia Order form must be returned if you plan to participate in the spring commencement exercises.

Candidates
6th Year Certificate Candidates Regalia orders must be received, in the Office of Development & Alumni Affairs, by 5:00 p.m., Monday, April 14, 2008. Check or money order, payable to the CCSU Alumni Association, must be included with your order form. An administrative fee of $25.00 will be collected for returned checks. Cash payments will be accepted in person only; please do not send cash payment by mail. Payment for academic regalia is non-refundable. Orders received after the April 14th deadline will be charged a $20.00 late fee.

Friday, May 16 If you cannot pick your regalia up during the distribution times you may send a friend or family member. Academic regalia will not be available for distribution at the XL Center. Portrait Sittings ^TOP There will be free sittings for portrait photos during regalia distribution, during the dates and times listed above. No appointment is necessary. CCSU Alumni Association Reception for the Class of 2008 ^TOP Plan on attending a reception for members of the Class of 2008 in the Nutmeg Room, Memorial Hall. Meet and network with alumni and classmates, and learn more about the CCSU Alumni Association. Refreshments will be served and there will be giveaways, all compliments of the CCSU Alumni Association.

Undergraduate Honor Cords
Undergraduate students who earn academic honors may wear gold honor cords with their academic regalia. The honor cords will be presented at the Academic Honors Convocation in Welte Auditorium.

Office of the Registrar Graduation Announcements ^TOP A sample announcement is enclosed. Personalized announcements may be ordered from CB Announcements at www.CBGrad.com or by calling (800) 433-0296. Diplomas ^TOP Diplomas will be mailed to graduates upon completion of degree requirements. Students who participate in the commencement exercises will be presented with a diploma cover during the ceremony. Students who do not participate may pick up a diploma cover in the Registrar’s Office after Tuesday, May 27, 2008. Count Me In ^TOP Get your limited edition CCSU lapel pin today! Photographs ^TOP Your graduation is an important occasion, and Chappell Graduation Images, the official commencement photographer, has been contracted to record the event. Photographs of graduates will be taken during the ceremony. Guests will not be permitted on the coliseum floor. Graduates will receive a color proof, at no charge, and will have an opportunity to purchase several optional packages of prints at competitive prices. Commencement Exercises ^TOP Approximately two weeks prior to commencement specific lineup instructions and a name card will be mailed to your home address. Please read carefully, and bring your name card with you to the ceremony on May 17. Participating students will assemble, by 9:45 a.m., in the East Exhibition Hall, located on the lower level of the XL Center. University personnel will be present to assist you in finding your place with your respective school. There is no secure place to store personal belongings at the XL Center. Please arrange for family members or friends to hold your personal items. The commencement ceremony will begin promptly at 10:30 a.m. on May 17, 2008. To ensure a timely start, the procession of graduates will begin at 10:15 a.m. sharp. Graduating students with physical disabilities who plan to participate in the commencement exercises should contact the Office of Development & Alumni Affairs at (860) 832-1740 as soon as possible prior to commencement. Admission to the XL Center ^TOP The doors to the XL Center seating will open at 9:30 a.m. No tickets are required for guests and there is no limit to the number of guests. There are no reserved seats; guests may sit wherever they choose. The best seats fill quickly so time your arrival accordingly. Ushers will be available to assist with seating. A sign language interpreter will be present at the ceremony. Guests with physical disabilities are advised to identify themselves to an XL Center usher for assistance. XL Center XL Center personnel reserve the right to remove any guest for inappropriate behavior. Possession or Consumption of Alcohol ^TOP Possession and/or consumption of alcoholic beverages in the XL Center is strictly prohibited. Alcohol containers will be confiscated. Individuals violating this policy will be denied admission to the commencement ceremony.
