The School of Arts and Sciences offers programs leading to the
bachelor of arts degree, the bachelor of science degree, the
bachelor of fine arts degree and the Bachelors degree in
Social Work. These programs are designed to provide a broad
liberal education; the subject matter background for specific
careers, including teaching; and the preparation for graduate
work in a number of academic fields and professions, including
law and medicine.
The programs in the School of Arts and Sciences include the fine
arts, the humanities, mathematics, computer science, the natural
sciences and the behavioral and social sciences. Some programs
are designated certifiable for teaching. These
programs all have additional requirements which are found in the
catalog descriptions listed under the School of Education and
Professional Studies.
When planning for majors and minors, students must consult with
department chairs or program directors and be assigned a faculty
adviser.
