Internships
CCSU recognizes
the value of experiential education and encourages students to explore academic
possibilities and potential career choices through the internship process.
Information for Students
Internships for
credit:
Internships are a required component of some academic major curriculums and an
optional component of others. Each academic department determines its own
policies and procedures regarding internships for credit. Students interested
in finding out more should contact their academic departments. They can also
visit the Career Services Office, located in Willard Hall Room 100, where
handouts on the policies and procedures are available for most departments.
Internships not for credit:
Students do not need academic approval for non-credit internship opportunities.
However, it is important to investigate internship opportunities carefully in
order to ensure that the experience will be a valuable means of exploring or
advancing their knowledge of a career choice. The Career Services Office,
located in Willard Hall, Room 100, can guide students in this process.
Internship
resources at CCSU:
Some academic departments have their own resources for internship opportunities.
In addition, the Career Services Office maintains a job & internship database,
Central Connections. All students have an account in Central Connections which
they can activate after completing the online information session Orient
Yourself at
www.ccsu.edu/career. In addition, Career Services provides internship
search guidance and preparation, and information on other internship resources.
The Career Services internship coordinator is Linda Sershen, who can be reached
at 860 832-1645 or
Sershen@ccsu.edu.
Information for Employers
Employers interested in
posting internships should contact the appropriate academic department and Linda
Sershen in Career Services. Department contact information is available through
the A-Z index on the CCSU homepage. Linda Sershen can be reached at 860
832-1645 or
Sershen@ccsu.edu.
Students are encouraged to consider work experiences which
are related to their academic and career pursuits. Participation in a paid or
unpaid Internship is a good way to begin accumulating career-related
experiences.
Anyone interested in Internships should first
ORIENT YOURSELF! You will then receive information on how to register with the
office through our
Central
Connections eRecruiting database system.
