Rudewicz Polish Concert Series to
Feature Noted String Quartet
NEW BRITAIN – April
1, 2008 – The Sylveen String Quarter will be the
featured performers at this year’s Alex and
Regina Rudewicz Polish Music Series, scheduled
for April 11 at Central Connecticut State
University. The event, which is free and open
to the public, is planned for 7 p.m. in Founders
Hall, in the Lawrence J. Davidson Administration
Building on Stanley Street. Refreshments will
be served and parking is available without
charge in CCSU’s parking garages and surface
lots.
Founded in 2004, the Connecticut-based ensemble
makes at least one New York appearance each year
and debuted in the Weill Recital Hall at
Carnegie Hall. The quartet has also performed
with the Connecticut Virtuosi at the Kościuszko
Foundation.
The CCSU concert will include: The String
Quartet No. 2, Op. 56 by Szymanowski; the String
Quartet “Already it is Dusk (“Juz sie zmierzcha”)
by Gorecki, as well as Ravel’s String Quartet in
F major. Performers are: Adrian Sylveen
Mackiewicz, violin; Brunilda Myftaraj, violin;
Maranne Vogel, viola; and Hans Twitchell,
cello.
The evening is sponsored by the Stanislaus. A.
Blejwas Endowed Chair in Polish and Polish
American Studies. Dr. Alex M. and Mrs. Regina
Rudewicz endowed the Rudewicz Polish Music
Series. Dr. Rudewicz is a dentist whose
practice is in Weatogue. The couple is active
in Polish American cultural affairs. Dr.
Rudewicz is on the Board of the Polish National
Home and serves on CCSU’s Polish Studies
Advisory Committee.
