CCSU’s Popular A Little Night Music Series to resume
NEW BRITAIN (September 20, 2007) CCSU’s
popular Wednesday evening concert series, “A Little Night
Music” is scheduled to resume October 24 with a performance
by Christopher Ladd; one of the most accomplished young
guitarists in the nation. Ladd will be heard in Founders
Hall in Lawrence J. Davidson Hall, CCSU’s administration
building, located a 1615 Stanley Street as will all
subsequent performers during the 2007-2008 season.
The series, presented by the Music Department, features a
variety of talented students, faculty members and guest
artists. Admission is free to students with a valid I.D.
Tickets are priced at $5.00 for CCSU faculty and members of
the general public.
Ladd, who has been praised for his “richness of sound,” has
won several prestigious competitions.
The
series continues on November 14 with The University Chamber
Players directed by Daniel D’Addio, performing Wolfgang
Amadeus Mozart’s Serenade in E-flat, and William Walton’s
Façade.
CCSU faculty
member, Joanne Scattergood, will narrate.
On February
27, 2008 the Jazz Faculty, under
the direction of Carl Knox will perform standards of the
idiom.
The CCSU Department of Music will inaugurate its new
Electro-acoustic Recital Series, (EARS) on March 26. The
concert features both contemporary and classic pieces of
electronic music featuring CCSU faculty members performing
virtuoso works that merge traditional performances with new
sounds.
The final concert on April 16, will showcase student winners
of the Music Department’s performance competition playing
music written by a wide array of composers in a variety of
styles.
Free parking is available in the lots adjacent to
Paul Manafort Drive or in the new garage on the corner of
Ella Grasso Boulevard and Stanley Street.
