CCSU Panel to Discuss ‘New Media’s’ Influence
and Presidential Politics
NEW BRITAIN –
The question is not whether bloggers and the
“new media” are having an impact on the 2008
presidential campaign experts say, but rather
how much of an affect. Central Connecticut
State University will host what promises to be a
lively panel discussion featuring former U.S.
Senate candidate and current CCSU adjunct
professor of Political Science and Philosophy
Ned Lamont.
Lamont will be joined by panelists Tim Tagaris,
Dan Gerstein and Mark Pazniokas at the 11 a.m.,
February 13 event scheduled for the Camp-Philbrick
Room of the CCSU Student Center. The event is
free and open to the public.
Tagaris, who has been hailed as a “netroots
wizard,” is also seen as a skilled practitioner
of new media in his efforts to promote
progressive candidates and causes.
Gerstein was the campaign manager for Lamont
rival Sen. Joseph Lieberman, while Pazniokas is
a Hartford Courant columnist who writes mainly
on contemporary politics.
Expected to be wide-ranging in scope, the forum
will focus on the current presidential campaign
and the various new ways in which candidates are
getting there messages out using innovative
technologies and methods.
Parking is available without charge in CCSU
parking garages and surface lots.
