NEW BRITAIN - April 22, 2008 - Central
Connecticut State University’s Jazz Ensemble and
California’s Vanguard University Jazz Ensemble
will perform at New York’s Town Hall on
Wednesday, April 23 at 8 p.m., under the
direction of CCSU’s Carl W. Knox and Vanguard’s
Kenneth R. Foerch.
The two ensembles will be performing with jazz
headliners Jon Faddis, Ralph Lalama and the New
York Improv Collective. The new series, “Jazz at
Town Hall” is being presented by Distinguished
Concerts International New York and will open
with “Monk in the 21st Century: The
Next Generation.” CCSU’s Jazz Ensemble will then
play “Straight, No Chaser”, “Trinkle Tinkle,”
and “Evidence.”
The California group will perform “Off Minor,”
“Round Midnight,” “Little Rootie Tootie,” and
“Rhythm-A-Ning.” The two groups will be led by
Faddis, also performing on the trumpet. Lalama
will play tenor saxophone with the ensembles.
