Guerilla Girls’ will
Make Tour Stop at CCSU
NEW BRITAIN
(February 29, 2008) “Feminists are Funny,”
according to “The Guerilla Girls on Tour” whose
tour includes a stop on the campus of Central
Connecticut State University, March 4.
The New York-based comedy ensemble, which
actually has a serious focus, but uses humor to
get its points across, creates original
productions dealing with the roles of women and
racial minorities in art, theatre, and
politics. The local performance is scheduled to
take place in the Torp Theatre, in CCSU’s
administration building, Lawrence J. Davidson
Hall, at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to
the public
The troupe will also appear the following day at
a luncheon and lecture session, from 12-noon -
1:30 p.m. in Alumni Hall, at the CCSU Student
Center. The March 5 presentation is part of the
annual Women's History Month Luncheon. Tickets
for the Luncheon are $20 and can be
purchased through the CENtix Box Office
(832-1989).
Titled "Creating a Feminist Performance" the
sit-down session will deal with issues such as
theatre, art, performance, history, feminism,
politics and social movements and will include a
question and answer period.
Both events are sponsored by the CCSU Committee
on the Concern's of Women with additional
sponsorship by the School of Arts & Sciences
Diversity Initiative, The Ruthe Boyea Women’s
Center, and the Women, Gender, and Sexuality
Studies Program.
Parking on campus is free to those attending
either event.
