CCSU Honored
as One of "the Best
201" Colleges
Central Connecticut State University,
already listed by the Association of American Colleges &
Universities as one of 16 top leadership institutions in the nation, has
been honored again.
This time, Connecticut's oldest
publicly supported institution of higher education has been selected as
one of "the best 201" colleges in the college guidebook, Great
Colleges for the Real World: Get In. Get Out. Get a Job, by Michael
Viollt and published by Octameron Associates. The institutions listed
were selected as having met or exceeded key criteria: overall college
experience, accessibility/affordability, graduation rate, commitment of
college to develop career opportunities, and market responses to the
institution. "We're
pleased to be recognized as a university successfully serving the needs
of today's students who seek an education that develops
career-supportive skills and that develops the foundation for lifelong
learning," said Dr. Pearl Bartelt, CCSU Provost and Vice President for
Academic Affairs. CCSU joined such distinguished company as
Drexel University, Manhattan College, Creighton University, Hofstra
University, and DePaul University. The guidebook identified the
University's distinctive features as its selection by the Association of
American Colleges & Universities as one of 16 "Leadership
Institutions" in the nation, the (then) pending offering of an Ed.D. in
educational leadership, and the increasing number of international
education arrangements. Last year, AAC&U cited CCSU for its
role as a model of "visionary innovations in undergraduate education."
CCSU is the largest of the four universities of the Connecticut State
University system. |
