Administrative Technology Services Group at CCSU
Chris Simcik, Director, Administrative Technology Services

The Administrative Technology Services Group (ATS) is a team of
programmer specialists within the Information Technology Services
department (ITS) at CCSU. The ATS staff works together with all the
administrative departments to support campus programming needs.
Sungard’s Banner suite, which overlays the university’s integrated
database, is the largest of the software applications supported by ATS.
The ATS group recently worked with the Bursar’s Office staff and
implemented a convenient new service for students and their parents;
online billing. In the past, students with a balance due for tuition or
housing would receive a bill in the mail. They now receive an email
notifying them of their new billing statement; an internet link in the
email allows students to view their statement online. Students’
statements are archived online providing ease of access to their billing
history. Students or their parents can make tuition, housing, and other
fee payments online with either a credit card or electronic check.
In compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA),
students can grant consent for their parents and third party payers to
have authorized access to pay their bills. Parents and third-party
payers have limited viewing capabilities but enjoy all the same payment
options as the students. Guest payers can also pay on behalf of the
students without having access to any of the student’s confidential
records. The Bursar’s website has all the information needed for
students, parents, third-party and guest payers to pay online.
Since online billing has become available, almost half the student
payments have been made online. This has drastically reduced the
payments received by mail as well as walk-ins by students and parents.
There are now usually no lines or waiting in the Bursar’s Office a much
higher quality of personalized service has been made possible.
Other administrative departments have worked with us to develop new and
improved technological services for our staff and students. In addition
to our working with the Bursar’s Office to provide additional online
services such as payment plans, direct deposit enrollment, and financial
aid advances, we are also teaming with the Registrar’s Office to archive
critical student documents, and with Admissions and with Continuing
Education to implement online admissions.
The ATS staff is composed of a Director, Christopher Simcik, and six
Programmer Specialists: Daniel Beeler, James Blaha, Shilpa Enugala, Dawn
Klimkiewicz, Jisong Li and Robert Rak. We are located with the
Information Technology Services Department in Henry Barnard Hall.
