“New CCSU Dean Reaches Out to the New Britain Community”
Siamack Shojai, Ph.D., Dean, School of Business
Siamack Shojai, Ph.D., Dean, School of Business

Since July 6, 2007, I have been privileged to serve as the Dean of the School of Business. During this short time, I have learned a lot about the quality of the program, faculty members who excel in educating students through their excellent teaching and scholarly work, state-of- the-art technology; stunning classrooms and labs and, accomplished alumni. Also, our students as ambassadors in the global economy have made the Central community proud.

I joined Central Connecticut State University’s School of Business with enthusiasm and a mandate to pursue two goals in the coming years. First, with active participation of all stakeholders, including alumni, the School must achieve accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). This most prestigious voluntary accrediting body has stringent quality standards set above and beyond the regional accrediting agencies’ requirements. These standards assure that by adopting a strategic management approach and pursuing continuous improvement, Central provides a high quality curriculum for talented students. According to AACSB

as of April 2007, only 549 member institutions hold the impressive AACSB business accreditation globally. The larger community’s active participation and support is one of the significant factors which would guarantee success. I will be calling upon many New Britain community business leaders and citizens in the future to seek their invaluable participation in this endeavor.

Second, we need to elevate the status and engagement of the school within the Connecticut business and larger communities. With so many successful business leaders in the immediate region, accomplished alumni, dedicated faculty members, a strong, supportive, and determined university leadership, talented students, hard working staff, and an infrastructure matching the best in New England, I am confident we will achieve this goal.  Once again, active involvement of the New Britain community will be a determining factor.  The School of Business faculty, staff, and students will be reaching out through various service clubs, business organizations, high schools, community service groups, the Institute for Technology and Business development (ITBD), and Small Business Development Center (SBDC).

I would enjoy hearing about your accomplishments and business success stories. Also, please consider a gift to the School of Business; I assure you that every contribution assists in better educating future business leaders.

Finally, Homecoming is scheduled for October 13, 2007, with family activities, football game, and a tour of the Business School planned. I hope many in New Britain will join us and attend the Homecoming game and tour the School of Business.
