Transfer Students
Goal: To acclimate to the university.

  1. Check the transfer credit evaluation of the student transcript. Those courses designated as Art elective, History elective, math elective, etc. may be used in the correspondent Skill or Study Area on the student’s curriculum sheet. In cases needing clarification, the student may check with the chair of the relevant department.

  2. Taking courses elsewhere. Before taking a course elsewhere, fill out a Request for Transfer Credit  from the Admissions Office (Davidson 115, 832-2278,), Articulation of transfer credits at Connecticut universities and colleges can be found at www.ccsu.edu/admission/transfer_student.htm.

  3. Transfer students with 61 or more credits and no ENG 110 (Freshmen Composition) should see the chair of the English department.

  4. Be aware of the residency requirement.  45 credits must be done at CCSU as well as half the major and half the minor.

  5. Students seeking to substitute transferred courses for degree requirements will need a course substitution form, submitted with descriptions or syllabi to the department chair and relevant academic dean.

Sophomores
Goal: Address Career Goals and Academic Progress.

  1. Time to declare a major or change a major, minor.

  2. Prepare to apply to the School of Education (Barnard 248, www.education.ccsu.edu).

  3. Visit The Advising Center in Willard 100. If a student is deciding on a major, suggest taking an interest inventory or self-assessment survey. Find out about experiential learning opportunities such as internships, career related volunteering, part-time and summer employment.
