Faculty Ideas and Recommendations
Dr.
Benjamin Sevitch Dear
Dr. Arends: The
School of Education is the primary raison d'etre of Central.
It must be left intact. The
School of Arts and Sciences is too large, with too many departments and too many
professors, who dominate the Senate and just about anything else.
It is difficult to predict the student demand for the School of Business,
since "business" is sometimes hot; sometimes not.
The School of Technology is excellent; however, it needs an infusion of
departments and students. Solution:
Take Marketing out of the School of Business. Merge the School of Business with the School of Technology.
Create a new School of Communication and Information Sciences.
Put the following into the new School:
Communication, Marketing, Design, Computer Sciences, Journalism and Mass
Media. Add a new department of Film
Studies. Now, you have reduced the School of Arts and Sciences to a reasonable size, and you have maintained the 4 school paradigm, only you have modernized it for the 21st century. Wasn't too hard, was it? Only you have to do it, not seek permission from the faculty. Dr.
